Reciprocating Plate Column
The entire series of perforated and baffle plates is assemble in a single cartridge, which is suspended from the drive motor on top. There are no internal bearings or guide bushings, and all maintenance is performed outside of the column. The drive unit is equipped with a variable speed motor to allow optimization of the column performance.
According to the supplier, the reciprocating plate motion of this column produces uniform shear mixing across the entire column cross section, making the column particularly suitable for systems which tend to form stable emulsions, such as fermentation broths.
The column shell can be constructed of carbon steel, stainless steel or higher alloys, Teflon, glass-lined steel, or FRP. The internal plate stack can be constructed of stainless steel, higher alloys, Teflon, or FRP.
